The Code 39 is a 1D barcode. It allows to store specific characters which are the following ones: the 26 uppercase letters, the 10 numbers, the hyphen ("-"), the dollar sign ("

quot;), the percent sign ("%"), the period ("."), the slash ("/"), the plus sign ("+") and the space. By default, it does not contain a checksum but this can be done by activating an option.
